Instructions for use

Congratulations on deciding to try Fair Squared Period Cups! The FAIR SQUARED Period Cup is a soft menstrual cup made from fair-trade natural rubber. It does not absorb the blood, but collects it, and is available in four sizes to suit light to heavy flow. It is made from FSC®-certified (FSC® C137581) and fair-trade natural rubber (www.fairrubber.org). The Period Cup is certified vegan by the Vegan Society (www.vegansociety.com). Here is a comprehensive guide to help you get started and use Fair Squared Period Cups:

1. What is a Fair Squared Period Cup?

• The Period Cup is a soft, reusable menstrual cup. Fair Squared Period Cups are free from silicone, BPA, PVC and phthalates

2. Choosing the right size:

• Fair Squared Period Cups are available in different sizes, depending on your age, birth history and menstrual flow. There are usually two sizes: one for lighter days and one for heavier days. You can check the size recommendations on the packaging or on the Fair Squared website.

3. Preparation:

• Before using it for the first time and after each period, you should clean your Fair Squared period cup thoroughly. Simply wash it with warm water and mild soap.

4. Insertion:

• Wash your hands thoroughly before inserting your period cup.
• Fold the cup to make it smaller. There are various folding methods, such as the C-fold or the punch-down fold. Experiment to find out which method works best for you.
• Find a comfortable position to insert the cup (standing, squatting, sitting, etc.).
• Carefully insert the folded cup into your vagina, in much the same way as you would a tampon. Make sure it is fully open to ensure a secure fit.

5. Removal:

• Wash your hands.
• Find a comfortable position to remove the cup.
• Gently grasp the base of the cup (the stem) and squeeze lightly to release the vacuum seal.
• Slowly pull the cup out and empty its contents into the toilet.
• Rinse the cup thoroughly with warm water.

6. Cleaning and care:

• After each use, you should clean your Fair Squared Period Cup thoroughly with warm water and mild soap.
• At the end of your period, you can also sterilise the cup by placing it in a pan of boiling water for 5–10 minutes.

7. Storage:

• Store your cleaned and dried cup in a clean, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight.

8. Change intervals:

• Change intervals vary depending on your menstrual flow. To begin with, it may be helpful to check every 4–8 hours to see if the cup is full. Over time, you’ll develop a better sense of this.

9. Comfort and care:

• If you experience any discomfort whilst using your Fair Squared Period Cup, it may be because the cup isn’t positioned correctly. Practise patiently until you find the technique that works best for you.
