refreshingly fairstainable – discover FAIR SQUARED

FAIR TO PEOPLE, THE ENVIRONMENT AND NATURE

Fair trade is our passion – but above all, we simply enjoy developing new products together with our partners. We are guided by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the United Nations. Particularly close to our hearts are the fight against poverty and hunger, clean water, good healthcare and education, gender equality, responsible consumption, climate action, and the protection of life below and on land.

How do we put this into practice? For example, through our certification partners and their independent audits: the Fairtrade mark guarantees our producers a fair price plus a premium, which must be used to improve their living conditions. In 2014, FAIR SQUARED was one of the first cosmetics companies worldwide to be awarded the Fairtrade mark. Our Fairtrade ingredients come from Fairtrade-certified producers who meet the Fairtrade standards, including requirements for better prices and working conditions (more info: info.fairtrade.net/sourcing). As natural rubber is not included among Fairtrade raw materials, we are also a founding member of Fair Rubber e.V. (www.fairrubber.org) – ensuring that our condoms and menstrual cups are also fairly traded. Our trips to visit our Fairtrade partners are among the most wonderful moments of our work – exciting, warm and full of good humour.

The majority of our products carry the Vegan Society seal (www.vegansociety.com): free from animal-derived ingredients. And because the majority of our products are also halal-certified, FAIR SQUARED is equally a good choice for Muslim people – tested and certified by the Islamic Centre in Aachen, which has inspected our production for cross-contamination and animal-derived ingredients. We are also a member of ICADA (www.icada.eu), the International Certification Association for Sustainable Cosmetic and Care Products.

WE RELY ON THE POWER OF NATURE

We rely on the power of nature: our entire range consists of natural cosmetics, completely free from genetically modified substances, microplastics, palm oil, mineral oils or petrochemicals. And we have been FSC-certified for many years (licence number FSC-C137581). The seal stands for responsible forest management and mainly applies to our natural rubber products

PLASTIC ADÉ – THE FUTURE IS ZERO WASTE

When it comes to climate protection, we recognised the plastic problem early on and took action: we are probably among the first companies worldwide to have introduced a reusable cosmetics system many years ago – in 2025, this was even recognised at the German Pavilion at the Expo in Osaka. FAIR SQUARED is available exclusively in glass containers; the only thing we’re still missing is a practical alternative to plastic for the pump mechanisms. We’re working on that.

Fair trade practices and environmental responsibility are just as much a part of our core principles. What else defines FAIR SQUARED? A multicultural, dedicated team that takes great pleasure in working to make the world just a little bit better. Discrimination – whether sexism, racism, homophobia or ableism – has no place here.
